What I'm I going to do with my 25 year old daughter?

I think to myself "what am I going to do with my daughter"

My 25 year old calls me on the phone and this is how the conversation goes.

"Mom, I need you to come down to PetSmart and adopt this dog for me. It looks just like Rooster and I want him." (Rooster is a dog that we had when she was little) "Why do I need to adopt the dog for you?" "Well, I told them about Moose (roommates' dog) and they want to meet him to see if they'll get along" "Wait a minute, why do I have to do this? We have three dogs" Her response "Well you can lie about the dogs, they won't know" My reply "First off I will not lie for you about the dog. Second, honey you need to think about this. You work full-time, go to school at night, your trying to get into the nursing program plus trying to get a new job at the hospital. You need to stop and think about what is fare to you and the dog."

I did not adopt the dog. I didn't teach her to lie either.

I know I broke her heart and she was disappointed that I wouldn't do this for her. When she bought her house last year I promised her that when I thought she was ready for a dog I would get it for her. I have know problem sticking to that. But, if she was honest with herself she'd realize that I'm saving her from a huge headache.

Now tell me what 25 year old that owns her own home and has two roommates, one that came with a dog would want to take this on with her schedule?

So I guess I'm the worst mom on the block today!

I'll keep you posted on the out come of the dog...

  1. Not the worst mom at all...a great mom! If it was the right thing to do she could have done it on her own. Don't worry too much about it! Have a great holiday weekend!
